Search Help

Introduction
This search will help you locate information throughout the www.konepaka.org web site. This search will look for key words in web pages, Microsoft Word documents, and PDF (Portable Document Files). The search works in a simple fashion. You tell it the key words to search for and it will present a rated list of web pages that contain your desired key words. The most relevant information will appear at the top of the list.

How to use the Search
  • Type the keyword(s) of what you are looking for in the search box.
  • Click the Search button to begin your search. It is that easy!
Example:
  1. Type vigil honor inducted new in the search box.
  2. Press the Search button or press the Enter key.
  3. The results page displays the pages on the www.konepaka.org web site containing information on newly inducted Vigil Honor members.

Tips for Receiving More Precise Results
  1. Use several words when searching. Don't worry about getting too large a number of results the most relevant content will appear at the top of the result pages.
  1. Don't worry about using lowercase or uppercase text in your searches. When you use lowercase text, the search service finds both uppercase and lowercase results.
  1. Use Exact phrases. If you know an exact phrase, put the phrase in quotes, for example: "golden gate bridge".
  1. Use wildcards. By typing an asterisk (*) at the end of a keyword, you can search for multiple forms of the word. Example: Try brother*, to find brother, brothers, brotherhood, and brotherly.
  1. Use Boolean operators "AND'', "OR'', and "NOT".  For example searching for:

  2. mouse and computer
will return only those documents regarding the kind of mice attached to a computer and not the rodents.

    Searching for:
    cat or kitten or feline
will return only those documents regarding cats.

    Searching for:
mouse or mice and not computer
will return only those documents regarding mice (the rodents) and not the kind attached to a computer.

    Searching for:
    mouse AND computer OR keyboard
is the same as searching for:
    (mouse and computer) or keyboard
in that they will both return only those documents regarding either mice attached to a computer or any kind of keyboard.

Further Examples on Boolean Searching

Expression Symbol Action
AND & Finds documents containing all of the specified words or phrases. peanut AND butter finds documents with both the word peanut and the word butter.
OR | Finds documents containing at least one of the specified words or phrases. Peanut OR butter finds documents containing either peanut or butter. The found documents could contain both items, but not necessarily.
AND NOT ! Excludes documents containing the specified word or phrase. Peanut AND NOT butter finds documents with peanut but not containing butter. NOT must be used with another operator, like AND. The konepaka.org search does not accept 'peanut NOT butter'; instead, specify peanut AND NOT butter..
() Use parentheses to group complex Boolean phrases. For example, (peanut AND butter) AND (jelly or jam) finds documents with the words 'peanut butter and jelly' or 'peanut butter and jam' or both.
